Phone Number Policy

This policy explains how Ember Crest collects, verifies, links, and reuses phone numbers for customer accounts. It supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Optional, but recommended

Adding a phone number is optional. A verified number can be used for supported sign-in methods, account security, order updates, and customer support. We may ask for a number after sign-in until it is verified or you select “Don’t ask me again.”

“Not now” dismisses the reminder for the current sign-in. Selecting “Don’t ask me again” saves the preference to your profile. You may still add and verify a number later.

2. How verification works

We currently accept supported Indian mobile numbers in +91 format. We send a one-time SMS code and mark the number verified only after the correct, unexpired code is submitted.

Verification confirms that the person completing the process can receive the code at that time. It does not independently confirm the person’s legal identity or permanent ownership of the number.

3. Numbers suggested by Google

If you grant permission and Google provides a phone number, Ember Crest may use it to prefill or suggest the number. Google may not provide a number for every account.

A Google-provided number is not treated as verified by Ember Crest, even when Google supplies verification metadata. You must complete Ember Crest’s separate SMS verification before the number is saved as your verified account phone.

4. Linking to Firebase Authentication

After successful SMS verification, the number is linked to the same Firebase Authentication user ID as your existing Ember Crest account and saved as the verified profile phone. Adding a number does not intentionally create a second account or replace your customer profile.

For sensitive changes, we may require a recent sign-in. If your session is no longer recent, you may be asked to confirm your identity again through a linked sign-in provider before the phone is added.

5. One verified identity number per account

A verified identity phone number cannot be actively linked to more than one Ember Crest customer account. If the number is already attached to another Firebase Authentication user or customer profile, the new link is rejected.

We do not automatically merge accounts, move orders, disclose the other account, or transfer a number merely because someone can receive a new SMS code. Sign in to the original account or contact Support for review.

6. Reuse on orders and within the same account

The uniqueness rule applies to the verified phone used as an account identity. A phone number may also appear as a delivery, billing, recipient, or order-contact number, including for a household. Those uses do not verify the number and do not grant sign-in access.

The same account may verify its currently linked number again. When an account changes to a newly verified number, the prior verified identity link and notification destination are removed or revoked. A released number may later be linked to another account after verification and conflict checks.

7. Reassigned or recycled phone numbers

Mobile operators may reassign numbers. Keep your account phone current and change it promptly if you lose access. If you receive a conflict for a number newly assigned to you, contact Support.

Support may request information needed to review account ownership and protect both customers. A disputed number is not automatically transferred, and account information is not disclosed to the person requesting the transfer.

8. Messages, privacy, and account deletion

We use verified phone numbers for the account and communication purposes described in our Privacy Policy. Marketing messages require the applicable consent or preference. Carrier message or data charges may apply.

You may request correction or deletion through Support, subject to security checks and records we must retain for orders, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, disputes, or other legal obligations. See our Account Deletion policy.

Need help?

If a number is linked to an account you cannot access, or you believe your number has been used without permission, contact Support. Do not share an SMS verification code with anyone.
